Croatia is not taking its MOVE Week 2014 preparations lightly. With 43 events already registered in 13 cities and more to come, dedicated MOVE Agents, such as the Institute of Public Health County of Međimurje, are setting the basis for a successful MOVE Week Croatia.
The efforts of Renata Kutnjak, the representative of the Institute, are notable, as she is working on promoting the benefits of being active and encourages regular participation in sports and physical activity, especially for children, youth and families, in her country. Her goal is to exceed 3000 participants and put an emphasis on the recent reports that say that “today’s 10 year old children will live 5 years less than their parents”.
This is an ambitious goal but help is on the way, as she has managed to partner with no less than 28 institutions from different fields, such as public health institutions, NGOs, grassroots sport organisations, local governments of cities and municipalities, tourist offices, social care and educational institutions. All of these stakeholders are playing a vital role in reaching the goal of MOVE Week Croatia. On top of that, the number of partners contributing to the Flash Mob has risen to 16, with 30 volunteers offering to help.
Many MOVE Week events in Croatia will offer participants the opportunity to try out different physical activities and practice the ones they love most. In addition, there will be 2 flagship events, the first one is “Let´s bring back sports and games to the streets and parks” in Čakovec city, expecting around 1000 participants, and “Sport-recreational games for families” in the municipality of Mala Subotica, with 400 participants estimated.
This is a good example of a motivated MOVE Agent with a good strategy. We are looking forwards to seeing the results of their hard work.
