With only four weeks until Europe’s biggest community sport event starts on 29 September, the countdown to MOVE Week 2014 is rapidly gaining momentum. Over 300 MOVE Week events in 28 European countries have already been registered on moveweek.eu – will we make it to the projected record of 2000? With the numbers climbing up every day, we think we will.
Poland is still leading the running count with 68 activities planned in as many as 45 cities across the country. The Czech Republic has raced into second place with 39 events, and Italy (27), France and Turkey (23), Bulgaria and Germany (20), Malta (19) and Greece (18) are not too far behind.
National Coordinators and MOVE Agents across Europe are busy gathering support from local sports organisations, schools, governments and sponsors to help their events reach as many people as possible. With endless opportunities to get different community actors involved, they have managed to link a diverse range of new and established events to MOVE Week such as school sports days, bike rides in cities and stunning natural sceneries, conferences and “no email” office days.
Anyone can be a MOVE Agent. No matter how big or small your event is, it is important to make it count by registering it online. Be part of a pan-European campaign and help us reach our goal of 2000 MOVE Week events in 2014!
