In the first spring edition of MOVE WEEK, the events in Bulgaria are being held in more than 25 cities. We have several new partnerships with youth organisations and expect a variety of interesting events aiming at all age groups.
Two good practices that we are proud to share are:
– One of our partnering municipalities decided to upscale their NowWeMOVE events and to make May a MOVE Month, including MOVE Week, NED and series of local events and tournaments. The Municipality of Pomorie has been a great activation partner, launching a local communication campaign along with the launch of MOVE Month.
– BG Be Active is organising MOVE Week events in two Bulgarian prisons. Details of the events can’t be shared in advance for security reasons. But we already have an invitation to do events in all 12 prisons in Bulgaria next year.
As usual we are ready to provide different opportunities for the Bulgarians to be active during MOVE Week:
Plovdiv, Sliven, Yambol and Nova Zagora are organising MOVE Weekends, according to a new concept that we tested in 2015. Our MOVE Agents have organised workshops in the central city parks and will offer the participants various sports and physical activities.
In Ruse, Varna, Vratsa and Blagoevgrad, youth organisations will organise mass events targeting young people in those cities. Some of the events include lessons in extreme sports, colour runs, basketball and volleyball tournaments and rock climbing.
In Pleven, Sliven, Montana, Kazanlak, Varna, Yambol and Karlovo there are going to be outdoor workouts every day throughout MOVE Week. Participants will be able to practice various martial arts, traditional and modern dance, yoga, group functional training, swimming, mountain biking, Paneurhythmy and many others.
Bozhurishte, a city joining the campaign for first time organises a mass Folk Festival, expected to include over 300 participants. A Mini Football Championship will be organised in the summer resort St. Constantin and Helena. Over three days, the event will feature 24 games with various teams and more than 160 participants. During the tournament there will be other entertainment games featuring all guests of the event.
Along with the outdoor events, there will be also open door events in various sports clubs in all cities participating. Some Bulgarian schools are also joining the spring edition of MOVE Week, but we are expecting mass participation from them in September for the European School Sport Day.
We expect another successful MOVE Week Bulgaria, which presents Bulgarian citizens interesting and different ways to be active in their daily lives.
